Accuracy rate and self-correction ratio are computed from reading logs using standardized mathematical definitions.
- Accuracy rate (%) = (words read − errors) ÷ words read × 100.
- Self-correction ratio = (errors + self-corrections) ÷ self-corrections.
Words read: all running words in the chosen text.
Errors: the final error count under the scoring method.
Self-corrections: errors that the reader corrected while reading.

What Does Running Record Accuracy Measure?
Running record accuracy shows the share of words left after scored errors come out. The rate is one part of the record. It does not show why an error took place. It also does not choose a teaching step.
How Is The Self-Correction Ratio Written?
Write the self-correction result as 1:N. Add errors and self-corrections, then divide by self-corrections. A result of 3.5 becomes 1:3.5. Use the rounding rule on your school form.
What Happens When There Are No Self-Corrections?
The self-correction ratio has no value when that count is zero. You cannot divide by zero. The tool should show no ratio. The accuracy rate can still use words and errors.
Does This Calculator Assign A Reading Level?
